CONSTRUCTION OF GAS PIPELINE PRESIDENTE PERÓN, 1947-1949, COURTESY FONDAZIONE DALMINE

WONDERLAND PATAGONIA showcases two stories of conquest of the Patagonian territory: on the one hand, the construction of a gas pipeline on the frozen plateaus between Buenos Aires and Tierra del Fuego by Techint-Dalmine (1947-1949), on the other, the first ascent of Mount Fitz Roy by a group of French mountaineers (1951-1952).

These enterprises required a perfectly rational organization, a team of experts and were accompanied by the support of numerous institutions. These stories, images and films by the protagonists still bear witness to the very human need to test oneself and challenge the environment.
