SEOUL WINDOWS is a photographic project by Michele Foti that portrays the capital of South Korea through the windows of its buildings. From high-rise apartments to commercial buildings, office towers, and structures on the verge of demolition, each distinct window has become both a lens and a frame through which the city is seen.
The images result from a deliberate movement around the window frame, chosen as a devise for viewing. Beyond the frame, the city stretches into infinity and the horizon becomes indistinct and blurred, bathed in the blue, intimate light of winter days. The photographic sequence unfolds like a video montage, where quick accelerations alternate with long pauses. At times, the perspective draws closer to the window, at others it pulls away, and occasionally, the window is opened.
And there it is: Seoul.
